Let’s be honest: when you think Rio Rancho, you think dirt, sun, and maybe a stray tumbleweed, not a seafood tower. But this dusty corner of the high desert has quietly become a place where you can get everything from a flawless grilled salmon with a mountain view to a bowl of steak pho that’ll warm you to your bones.

I even found a swim school that claims to be a fish factory, though their scheduling is more of a flop than a fin. The range here is wild, from a winery bistro perfect for a special occasion to a humble noodle house that beats any hot pot I’ve tried.

So grab a fork, or a chopstick, and dive into the list.

Poor schedule management
Overcrowded sessions
Dismissive staff response
Unsafe parking conditions
No customer follow-up

Honestly, I wanted to like this place, but the schedule was a mess. We showed up for a swim lesson we'd booked, only to be told they'd shifted the time. The staff seemed overwhelmed and a bit dismissive when we asked about it, which didn't help. Parking was also a bit of a squeeze, and I wouldn't call the lot unsafe, but it wasn't well-lit either. No one followed up with us after our visit, which felt like they just didn't care. I'm all for a busy pool, but this felt chaotic, not energetic.

Moderate prices, special occasion

That grilled salmon was the star, no question. Perfectly cooked, flaky, and the baked brie with almonds was a lovely touch. The view of the mountains from the patio is honestly gorgeous, and our server was quick and friendly without hovering. The prices felt reasonable for what you get, especially if you're celebrating something. It's not a casual drop-in spot, but for a special occasion, this is a solid pick. Just make a reservation, because it fills up fast.

Fresh sashimi for Albuquerque
Automatic gratuity felt pushy
Salty Pad Thai and curry
Service was friendly and quick

The sashimi was incredibly fresh, so no complaints there. Service was friendly and quick too, which is always a plus. But the automatic gratuity felt a bit pushy, and honestly, the pad thai and curry came out way too salty for my taste. It's decent if you're craving sushi, but I'd probably skip the other dishes. The atmosphere was okay, but nothing to write home about.
